Judy Douglas DickJudy Douglas Dick

Judy Douglas Dick is a native of Newport News, having graduated from Warwick High School. Judy worked in the Shipyard for 10 years before she moved to Jacksonville, FL with her family. After living in Florida for over 11 years, they moved back to Richmond where she worked as a legal secretary.  Judy retired after 40 years in that career. She and her husband lived in Richmond for over 25 years, and moved back to Newport News to be close to family. Her husband, Billy, passed away in October 2015 and she was looking for a part time job to fill in the hours.  Peninsula Funeral Home has handled generations of her husband’s family and she came to work with the PFH family in January 2016.  Judy enjoys working with the families and helping to meet their needs.

 


Peggy FarmerPeggy Ancell Farmer

Peggy Ancell Farmer is a Newport News native and resides in Poquoson. Despite living in Poquoson for over 40 years, she is still considered a “move-in”. Peggy was widowed at 38 and later remarried Dave. They stay very busy with their blended family and traveling to visit their four energetic beautiful grandchildren. Peggy retired as an office manager and since the spring of 2015, she has enjoyed the family atmosphere at Peninsula Funeral Home and serving the public.

Since 1974 Vicki Franklin Flakowitz has been a resident of Yorktown, along with David, her husband of 48 years.  She owned Victoria’s Wallpaper for 21 successful years, and then began working as a substitute para educator in York County.  In 2004, Vicki joined the PFH family, and is pleased to be serving our peninsula families in a meaningful way.  Vicki and David are active members of Coastal Community Church, and especially enjoy spending time with their 2 sons and 4 grandchildren in the Outer Banks. The Peninsula is Vicki’s home, and she is blessed to live in this community.

Mr. David P. Johnson is a valued member of the Peninsula Funeral Home family. David is a life-long resident of the Peninsula. After 35 years of service, he retired from the U.S. Department of Transportation. David is a member of the Widow’s Son Lodge #54 Prince Hall Masons and a member of the United House of Prayer for All People.

Frederick W. Mays

Frederick W. Mays was born in Newport News in the old Riverside Hospital. He retired from Newport News Shipbuilding with over 40 years of service, and has been a part-time employee of Peninsula Funeral Home since October, 2007. Fred’s favorite hobby is collecting local memorabilia. He often speaks at clubs and other groups, presenting elaborate displays of Newport News artifacts. Fred is an active member at Northside Christian Church. He is married to the former Patricia Andrews, also a Newport News native, and together they have two children and four grandchildren.

Richard (Dick) Motley, Sr. was born and raised in Newport News in 1941. He and his wife, Carolyn have four children, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Dick has been working for Peninsula Funeral Home since 2012, following his retirement from Owens, Brockway and Newport Business Forms. He is also a member of First Baptist Church. When he is not spending time with his grandchildren, he enjoys traveling whenever and wherever he can.

Ed Shelton is a retired firefighter and has served Peninsula Funeral Home since 1990. He is a member of First Baptist Church in Newport News, and a member of Bremond Lodge AF & AM. In his spare time, Ed enjoys spending time with his family.

Judy Snipes has been with Peninsula Funeral Home since 2015 and is a fairly new resident of the Peninsula. She resides in Yorktown with her four active teens, attends Northside Christian Church and is involved with the Genieve Shelter for Battered Women and Children. Her passions include hiking, camping, CrossFit and spending time with her children and friends. She is looking forward to beginning college courses this year.

Eddie M Spaulding, Jr. was born in Wareham, Massachusetts in 1944. He has been a resident of the Hampton Roads area for most of his life. After retiring in 2010 with 38 years at Newport News Shipbuilding; watching old western movies and participating in regular exercise has become part of his daily routine. Eddie has enjoyed working with Peninsula Funeral Home since 2009 and is looking forward to many more. He remembers his parents and grandparents talking affectionately of the Turbyfills and the great services they provided.

 


Shirley StithShirley Ann Stith

Shirley Ann Stith was born and raised in Newport News, and has been taking care of the Turbyfill family since August, 1965. She is the second generation of her family that has worked at Peninsula Funeral Home, and has been a part of the business since October, 1995. Shirley belongs to the Elk’s Club White Rose Beauty Temple #59, is an active member of Ivy Baptist Church and formerly sang in the choir. She loves socializing with friends and cooking for her grandsons.
