Donna Lynne Bane

Dear family and friends, it is with a heavy heart and great sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved wife and mother Donna Bane. She passed very peacefully in her sleep surrounded by family and loved ones on the morning of Saturday, October 1, 2022, after a brief and sudden illness at the age of 58.Β  During this time, she was surrounded by love and cared for by her close friends, children, and her husband Daniel.

Donna Bane had a compassionate spirit of love and care for others. She worked as a caregiver and companion for the elderly, receiving several awards for caregiving excellence throughout her time working with Visiting Angels. She did all this while caring for her three children and her loving husband. She had a deep love for nature and a creative mind. Donna was always there to quietly serve and love others. Throughout her life, she modeled the love of Christ and she inspired others to live with more gentleness and compassion. Donna always looked for the good in others and had unwavering faith in difficult situations. Even in her last moments, she was a bright light to those around her. There was so much love in Donna’s life. She was an incredible teacher and mother who inspired everyone who knew her. Her legacy will live on in all of us.Β 

Donna was preceded in death by her mother, Yvonne Elizabeth Hicks White, her father, Gurney Lester White, and sister, Elizabeth β€œLiz” Moore. Donna is survived by her husband, Daniel Noland Bane; three children, Michael Daniel Bane, Humility Ruth Pugh, and Endurance Hope Gibbens.

The family will receive friends and your condolences on Monday, October 10, 2022, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 23 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the family home – 288 Paulette Drive, Newport News, VA 23608.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Operation Underground Railroad: End Child Trafficking, P.O. Box 560902, Denver, CO 80256 (https://www.ourrescue.org/).

    I am so sad to hear of the passing of Donna Lynne. I know God will give you all the strength to carry on. Dan and all the Bane family will be in Karla and my prayers.
