William “Will” or “Scooter” J. Paffrath, Jr., went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 21, 2026. Born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Will was a longtime resident of Newport News and Yorktown, Virginia. He proudly dedicated more than 18 years of his career to Ferguson Enterprises, where his genuine heart for helping and serving others touched the lives of many.
Will had a deep passion for sports, especially soccer, NFL football—Go Steelers!—golf, and fishing for large bass. Some of his most cherished memories were made during family vacations, where he loved spending quality time with his loved ones and enjoying his favorite pastime of fishing.
Above all, Will treasured his family and the time they shared together. His kindness, generous spirit, love of family, and passion for life will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
Will now joins his father in eternal rest and leaves behind his loving mother, who will carry his memory in her heart always; his beloved children, Matthew and Madelyn; his sister, Casey Jenkins (Scott); his nephew, Bryson; his nieces, Harper and Hayden; and his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 27, 2026, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home, with a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Peninsula Memorial Park following the funeral.

I first met Will when I started Ferguson. You could tell right away what a kind and caring person he was. He had great karma and will be missed. After such a long and hard fight, it is now time to rest easy. Prayers and thoughts to your family Will.
Will was so much more than my best friend. He was truly the brother I never had, and I will forever be grateful for the years of friendship, laughter, memories and life that we shared together.
There are some people who come into your life and simply become part of who you are. Will was that person for me. He was there through so many chapters of my life — the good times, the difficult times, the crazy times and everything in between. No matter what life brought our way, there was always that friendship and a bond that I knew I could count on.
Anyone who knew Will knew that incredible smile and infectious laugh. He had a huge heart and a way of making the people around him feel loved and important. He was an amazing friend, father, son, grandson, brother and so much more. Whatever role Will played in someone’s life, he gave himself to it with love. That was simply who he was.
One of the greatest gifts Will gave me was not only his friendship, but his family. Over the years, his family became my family, and that is a bond I will always treasure and one that will never be broken.
There are more memories and stories than I could ever begin to put into words. So many laughs, conversations and moments that seemed ordinary at the time but mean everything to me now. Those are the things I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
Will was one of those people you simply expected would always be there — someone you could call, laugh with, lean on, reminisce with or just sit around and talk about life. It is incredibly difficult to imagine a world without him in it, and there will forever be a place in my heart that belongs to my friend and brother.
Scooter, I hope you knew just how much you were loved and how much you meant to me and to so many people whose lives were better because you were part of them.
Thank you for being my best friend. Thank you for being my brother. Thank you for every laugh, every conversation, every memory and every year of friendship. Most of all, thank you for simply being Will.
I will miss your smile, your laugh and your friendship more than words could ever express, but I will carry you and all of our memories with me for the rest of my life.
