Tammy Colleen Narde, 65, of Yorktown, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, after a ten-year dance with cancer. Tammy was predeceased by her brother Matthew, her mother Gartha, and her stepfather Alton. Her spirit lives on through her two daughters, Jodi and Kendall; sisters Faye and Aggie; brother Tim; nieces Audrey and Katie; and nephew Eric.
A 1978 Horseheads High graduate, Tammy was a cosmetologist at Doug’s Barber Shop in Elmira, NY, for over 20 years. She later worked at the Chemung County Executive Office, where she led efforts to modernize county records, driving their transition into the twenty-first century. She retired from York County School District as a Records Manager. Tammy found deep joy in life by the water, collecting sea glass and transforming her finds into works of art. She was also a talented embroiderer and lover of music.
A celebration of Tammy’s life will be held at Peninsula Funeral Home in Newport News on Saturday, June 7, at 3:00 p.m. The family encourages donations to Little Pink Houses of Hope (littlepink.org), a nonprofit offering hope and healing to breast cancer patients through free, weeklong vacation retreats.
