Robert Jesse McKenzie, 83, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026. The son of the late Charles and Gladys McKenzie, Bob was a lifelong resident of Hampton. He graduated from the Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School as an electrical designer. Bob was a member of the Tidewater Street Rod Association. He also enjoyed NASCAR races and country music.
Survivors include his wife, Shirly Tayo McKenzie; his sister, Nancy Gray (David); nephews, David Gray, Jr., and Michael Gray; and niece, Debra Gray.
A graveside service will be held at the Peninsula Memorial Park on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd, Newport News, Virginia 23601.
