Patricia Kaye Perkinson, born on February 24, 1943, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026. The first child born to Billy and Thelma Perkinson in Roanoke Rapids, NC, she was a graduate of Warwick High School and received her bachelor’s degree from The College of William & Mary. Pat retired from the Newport News Public School System as a teacher. The bonds she made with the children she taught through the years were strong. She was encouraging and supportive, and, most of all, she listened. Some of the children she taught became lifelong friends, and she was still there to encourage, support, and listen into adulthood. Pat was a strong supporter of the arts and had a passion for music. Set her up in front of most any type of live music, and she’d be happy all night. Her joy in art and music was contagious, and she shared that love with everyone.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Carolyn Mack. She is survived by her sister, Jacqueline P. McGee; many nieces and nephews; and dear lifelong friends.
In keeping with Pat’s wishes, there will be no public service.
