Mrs. Nancy Rocha

Nancy P. Rocha passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026, at her home in Newport News, with her husband, Guillermo A. “Willy” Rocha.  She was a native of Florida but had lived in Newport News for 30 years.  Nancy worked for Sentara Urgent Care as an LPN for 22 years.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie Poss and Martha Tharpe. She is survived by her children, Emily O’Connor (Dustin), Sherry “Tori” Lang (James), and Guillermo “Chico” Rocha Jr. (Jennifer); five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her sister, Sherry Hoyt; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nancy was gentle, kind, affectionate, and hard-headed. She was colorful and a people person who would talk to anyone, even a wall. She loved late-night Walmart trips, the Rocky Horror Picture Show, dancing the Time Warp, wind chimes, feeding the birds, fighting the squirrels, the beach, the mountains, camping, and traveling with her sister. Nancy loved her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, and she would “whoop” anyone who got on her children, even though she was petite.

Nancy will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home, with a reception to follow at the funeral home.
