Obituaries

Guillermo A. “Willy” Rocha passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026, at his home in Newport News, with his wife, Nancy P. Rocha.  He was a native of Mexico and had been a resident of Newport News for 30 years.  He worked as a truck driver for ABC Supply for the last 18 years.  Willy was of the Catholic faith.

Willy was preceded in death by his mother,  Maria Arredondo.  He is survived by his three daughters, Emily O’Connor (Dustin), Sherry “Tori” Lang (James), and Jennifer Sieracki (Brian); his son, Guillermo “Chico” Rocha Jr. (Jennifer); nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his father, Jose Carmen Rocha; two sisters, Maria Del Carmen Rocha and Eduviges Rocha “Vicky”; three brothers, Julian Rocha, Margarito Rocha and Roberto Rocha; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Willy was goofy, kind, and helpful, and everyone in the community knew him; kids loved him; he was as stubborn as a mule. He loved hunting and fishing, camping, horseback riding, and collecting guns. He loved to dance, whether to Mexican music or playing the “Wii” with his family; loved animals, even though he would not admit it; loved soccer but would watch his nephews play football even though he didn’t understand it. He hated Dallas! He loved his beer, mavericks, and fruity alcohol.

Willy’s legacy was the relationships he built with everyone he encountered. Through the stories he told and the advice he gave, everyone who met him was left with a mark and was better for knowing him.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home, with a reception to follow at the funeral home.
