Morton “Morty” Binder, 86, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026, in Newport News, Virginia. He was employed and retired from Yorktown Navy Weapons Station as an Inspector. Morty was a racecar driver fan, loved gardening vegetables, family cookouts, and gatherings, “Dump Dinners – seafood boils and cooking.

Morty was preceded in death by his parents, Hanna and Jack Binder; his sisters, Harriet Reynolds and Elaine Kuykendall; his brother, Michael Binder; and his nephews, Dale Kuykendall and Mark Kuykendall. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Kuykendall Binder; goddaughter, Katherine Anderson; nieces, Jackie Reynolds, Donna Dean, Carol Kuykendall, and nephews, Butch Kuykendall and James Reynolds, Jr.; and Charles Dixon, his best friend.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 15, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home, with a service following at 2:00 p.m.
