Minnie Kilmon Verlander of Hampton Virginia passed away on Friday May 9, 2025 just two days short of her 95th birthday She was the widow and devoted wife of 65 years to Robert B Verlander Sr. and a loving mother to three loving sons, Robert Verlander Jr, (Bob) Samuel Verlander (Sam Eddie) and Joseph Verlander (Joe) and two granddaughters Jeannie. Minnie was preceded in death by granddaughter Kristy, sisters Ethel Kilmon Reamy, Mary Louise Kilmon Squires, Bertha Kilmon Clarke and a brother Samuel Kilmon Jr.
Growing up in Tidwell’s Virginia she was a long-time member of the Edgewater United Methodist Church which she enjoyed viewing their current video sermons on Facebook every week.
She lived to take care of her family, loved working in her vegetable garden growing tomatoes, butter beans, green beans, green peppers and squash.
She also loved hosting parties for family and friends twice a year, Christmas eve and the Fourth of July, she loved anything red, white and blue and the American flag.
The family will have a visitation for family and friends Monday, May 12, 2025, at Peninsula Funeral Home from 5:30 to 7:00PM. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 1:00PM at Peninsula Memorial Park.
