Marie went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the age of 100. She was born July 31, 1925, to Sadie and Luther Spain of Washington, NC.
She was a wonderful, caring, gracious, and loving Mom, Grandma, Great-grandma, Aunt, and Friend, and her love touched all who knew her.
Her love of God led her to teach Sunday School for over 50 years. Speaking out for her Lord was her signature trait, and lives were changed as a result. Her days often included singing hymns of her faith.
Marie was predeceased by the love of her life, Cecil, for 74 years. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Wayne Woolard (Susie), daughter, Phyllis Watkins (Ron – deceased); granddaughters, Karen Ramsey (Wayne), Valerie Davis (Jason), and Diana Brooks (Hunter); and great-grandchildren, Madison Bartlett (Brandon), Connor Ramsey, Sadie and Harper Davis, and Julia and Meredith Brooks.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home, with the funeral service following at 1:30 p.m. Following the service, burial will be held at Peninsula Memorial Park. A reception will follow at Temple Baptist Church.

I lived down the street from her and whenever I went by and she was outside we would stand around talking and of course it was always about our Lord Jesus Christ and all the wonderful work he has done and still does. I really miss seeing her. Praying for all of her family.
Our love and prayers are with you and your family. Mrs. Wollard passed along a wonderful legacy by the example of the life she lived. A loving and wonderful and special woman.
I’m so sorry for the loss of your dear loved one. May you find comfort from the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our trials. – 2 Corinthians 1:3&4 Condolences
