Mary E. Rico, 71, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026. She was a native of Brooklyn, New York, and a resident of Virginia for the past 54 years. She worked at Target and retired after 15 years of service; she was a Christian who loved God more than anything else. Mary had a passion for working with kids and had volunteered with the Her Brothers Foundation (Rico’s Foundation for Autistic Kids). Mary had a heart of gold – she loved everyone, family, friends, and people in general.
Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing Mary now rests in the presence of her Savior. Her legacy of love, strength, and enduring faith will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Morles, and three brothers, Steve, Mike, and David. She is survived by her spouse of 30 years, Raymond W. Scott, Jr.; her son, Raymond W. Scott III of Poquoson, Virginia; her brothers, Sandy Rico and wife, Kim of Toano, Virginia, and Gabe Rico and wife, Claudia of Newport News; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Liberty Live Church, 1021 Big Bethel Road, Hampton. The service will be live-streamed (LibertyLive.Church/Lifestream).
Memorial donations in Mary’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society of America (https://donate.cancer.org/).
