Margaret Fisher Overman passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the age of 83. Born in Winchester, Virginia, on February 23, 1942, she was the daughter of Douglas and Mamie Fisher, both of whom preceded her in death.
Margaret graduated from John Handley High School in 1960 and went on to earn a degree from The College of William & Mary in 1964, where she was an active member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. She continued her education at the MCV School of Cytology in late 1965 and dedicated the next four decades of her life to the field, retiring from Sentara Williamsburg Community Hospital in 2005.
She was married to G. Curtis Overman, Jr., for 51 years until his passing in 2016. Margaret is survived by her two sons, Curt and Bryan, daughters-in-law Anne and Olivia, as well as four beloved grandchildren: Will, Katie, Kavan, and Rowan. She is also survived by her brother, Douglas L. Fisher (Donna) of Sebring, Florida, her niece, Georgia Fisher Arnold (Walt), and two great-nieces, Bowen and Sutton.
Margaret had many passions throughout her life. She was a Bronze Life Master in bridge, a game she loved, and found great joy in reading and socializing with others. She had an infectious personality and never met a stranger; her kindness and generosity were felt by everyone who knew her.
A viewing and reception will be held at the Peninsula Funeral Home on Thursday, June 26, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A graveside service will take place in Winchester, VA, at Mount Hebron Cemetery on Saturday, June 28, at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Kidney Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home.

I knew Mrs. Overman from working at Denbigh. I live in Poquoson as well and loved speaking with her. She was always so kind and always had a smile. The staff and patients have fond memories of her and miss her. Thinking of her family during this time!
