Linda Iris Wright, 79, passed away peacefully at home on July 31, 2026. She was born on Christmas Eve in 1946, to the late Roscoe McGuire, Jr. and Iris Carroll McGuire.
Linda was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jason Wright, with whom she shared a life filled with love and companionship. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary Withrow, and her brothers Donnie, William, and Darrell McGuire. Linda’s legacy continues through her surviving sister, Connie Michels, and her husband John, who have been a source of support and love throughout her life. She is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews.
A lifelong resident of Newport News, Linda was a dedicated sales associate at Farm Fresh Grocery Store and a proud member of Riverside Baptist Church. Her passions were as vibrant as her spirit. She was an avid collector of Coca-Cola memorabilia and a Disney fanatic. Her greatest accomplishment was helping others and always being devoted to her family. She had a strong drive to be there for everyone.
A graveside service will be held on August 7, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Peninsula Memorial Park, located at 12750 Warwick Blvd. Newport News, VA 23606. Following the burial will be a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd Newport News, VA 23601. There will be a reception in the funeral home after the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Linda’s memory to the American Heart Association.
