Joyce Lois Morrison, 95, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Hospice House of Williamsburg. She was a native of Bethel, NY, and a resident of Newport News, VA, for the past 48 years. For nine years, Joyce was a DX Driver for various car dealers and rental car companies. Joyce was of the Roman Catholic faith.
Joyce loved to travel. After her husband, Jack, retired, they went on a road trip to Nebraska to visit her two brothers and to Las Vegas to visit their niece Eileen. She especially enjoyed her trips to California, Hawaii, and Ireland.
She enjoyed going to the casinos in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and Delaware. She really loved watching horse racing and couldn’t wait every year for the Triple Crown and Ascot. She liked to watch westerns on TV, especially The Rifleman. She really enjoyed watching British TV shows. When she was younger, Joyce liked to crochet. She would make afghans for her family.
Joyce was very much loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Francis Morrison; son, Gregory Paul Morrison; granddaughter, Kelly Shea Morrison; parents, Herbert Dubois Ballard and Catherine Lare; and stepmother, Roberta Benson.
Joyce is survived by her three daughters, Janet L. Chandler, Susan M. Morrison, and Diane L. Morrison; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A private burial will be held at Hampton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Joyce’s memory to Hospice House of Williamsburg (https://williamsburghospice.org/).
