Joseph “Joe” Lewis St. Clair, 78, of Yorktown, VA, was called home on Monday, January 20, 2025. Joe was born June 24, 1946, in Bedford, VA, and traveled with his family while serving in the military until they settled in Newport News, VA. He moved to Hampton when he was married and lived there for over 30 years until moving to Yorktown.
He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam
War, where he received a Purple Heart and earned the Vietnam Service Medal with 1 star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. After his service in the Marines, he was a U.S. Postal Service Supervisor, from which he retired.
Joe was a longtime member of Northampton Christian Church, where he found great joy and lifelong friends who were like family to him. Joe loved spending time with his family and many friends, including his neighbors and church family. Joe was happiest outdoors, whether fishing, boating, working in the yard, tinkering with a car, or cooking out with his family. His favorite name was Pa Pa, given to him by his grandchildren.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel L. St.Clair, mother, Myra St.Clair, father, Alfred L. St.Clair, brother Elisha “Mike” St.Clair, and brother, Rickey St.Clair. He will be loved and missed by his children, Dawn St.Clair Phillips (Drew); Joseph “Joey” L. St.Clair Jr.; April St.Clair; grandchildren, Kaylin Farruggio (Nick), Elaina St.Clair, Aryanna St.Clair, Joseph Lewis St.Clair III “Trace”; and his great-grandchildren, Paisley, Charlie, and Santana.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Northampton Christian Church on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., with refreshments to follow. Visitation with the family will be prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made in Joe’s honor to Northampton Christian Church, 1409 Todds Lane, Hampton, VA.

To the Family of Joseph StClair you have our sincere condolence in His passing. We worked with Joe at the Post Office. He will surely be missed. He was very knowledgeable in his job.He loved to interact with his employees. Another Angel have received His wings and is now resting in the Loving Arms of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. God bless
