Johnnie Ray White, 75, passed peacefully in his sleep on June 1, 2026. Johnnie was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He was a native of Newport News, VA. He joined the United States Army in 1969 and served his time in Vietnam as a door gunner. After his service he worked for Huskey Plumbing and Heating before becoming a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union 540 (currently Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 110) until he retired.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Shirley White; brother, James Wayne White; and sister, Shirley “Susie” Luntsford.
Johnnie is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Twyla Kay White; one daughter, Misty Kay Johnson (Junior); six grandchildren, John, Jesse, Jordan, Jillian, Justice, and Jaiden of Cataula, GA; and one sister, Diane Jackson (Walter) of Gloucester, VA.
Family will receive friends on Friday, June 5, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Johnnie’s memory may be made to Denbigh Christian Church, 816 Moyer Road, Newport News, VA 23608.

JOHNNY WAS such a wonderful neighbor and he use to be my security guard sitting on his back porch ALL day!!!!!!!! I know he will be greatly missed by family and friends! MY thoughts and prayers are with KAY and all the family!
