John David Newberry, Sr.

John David Newberry, Sr., 75, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. He was a native of Virginia and had lived in Windsor, Virginia, for the last 34 years. John worked for Howmet as a supervisor and, after decades, retired. He served for four years in the U.S. Marines, including his service in Vietnam. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Star, and Combat Action Ribbon.

John was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Newberry, son John David Newberry Jr., and wife Noretta D. Newberry. He is survived by his daughter Christie Newberry Ek (Stephen); two grandchildren, Jonathan Ek (Kaylea) and Madeline Goodman (Jackson); three great-grandchildren, Collins, Freyja, and Harper; brother Gerald Newberry; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 26, at 11:00 a.m. at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton, VA.

    and family. Johnnie work for my dad when I was in high school and Johnnie talked me into gong into
    Marine Corp.

    John was my supervisor in casting for years.What a great boss and friend.He would laugh and it made you laugh.We fished in lake runners club,he loved to fish and hunt.Rest in peace my friend until we meet again.

    I am very sorry to hear of John’s passing. He was the sweetest man. I had the pleasure of working with him at Howmet from 1998 to 2006. My sympathies to your family. May he rest in peace
