Helen L. Brady

Helen L. Brady‘s journey ended on this earth early in the morning on February 13, 2025. She
went peacefully in her sleep and is now back with her husband of 67 years on what would
have been his 90th birthday. She was born in Asheboro, North Carolina, where she grew up
and met her lifetime soul mate, Billy M. Brady. They were married in 1955 in Asheboro at the
ages of 20 and 21 and a couple of years later moved to Newport News, Va., for Billy’s job
where they raised their family and had a wonderful life together. Helen was a beautiful person
both inside and out, always thinking of others before herself. She had a special love for
children and became a schoolteacher for many years, teaching kindergarten at Olivet Christian
Church. She was a member of Warwick Memorial United Methodist Church for over 60 years
and a member of Eastern Star, Emera Chapter #31, serving as Worthy Matron in 1994-1995
and 1998-1999.

She loved the outdoors, gardening, tinkering with her flowers, collecting dolls, and catering to
the love of her life, but most of all, she loved family! She enjoyed family gatherings and
spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to cook and was
always trying to feed everybody. Helen was such an amazing person and truly an inspiration to
all who knew her. She was kind and gentle, always smiling and laughing, and forever putting
all before herself! She was the perfect example of what God expects of us, and it showed in
everything she did throughout her whole life.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Helen is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy M. Brady; her parents, Roy and
Hallie Lemmons; two sisters, Becky Vuncannon (Keith) and Peggy Moffitt (J.D.); one brother,
Horace Lemmons (Darlene), and a son-in-law, Tommy Coberly. Helen is survived by one
brother, Roger Lemmons (Helen); three children, Rick Brady (Martha), Chris Brady (Debbie),
and Teresa Coberly; and six grandchildren, Rick Brady, II. (Stephanie), C. Ryan Hill, Ashley
Coberly, Shaina Brady, Amber Pulver (Marcus), and Amy Brady; nine great-grandchildren, Rick
Brady, III., Christopher Hill, Jr., Travis Hill, Madison Hobgood, Jaidyn Coberly, Jase Hill,
Nevaeh Thomas, Marcus Pulver, Jr., and Tori Brady.
