Helen Hester Folwell, age 89, sadly passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025, in Baltimore. She was born in Newport News, VA, to the late Mary and Mack Hester. Helen is the beloved wife of the late Charles D. Folwell; loving mother of Charles D. Folwell, Jr. (Debra) and the late Larry Folwell; grandmother of Katherine Corrado (Brandon) and Michael Folwell; great-grandmother of Daniel and Charlotte Corrado.
Helen graduated from Newport News High School and lived most of her life in Newport News. In her younger years, she enjoyed boating, water skiing, and Square Dancing. She was an avid Cruiser and cross-stitcher. She also loved to sew and she enjoyed playing bridge and bingo. Her annual Christmas parties were a treasured tradition, welcoming her extended family year after year.
Helen retired from Riverside Hospital, where she worked as a Medical Transcriptionist.
A visitation will be held Friday, July 18 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601.
