George Nelson “Butch” Kintner, 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at his home. He was born in Easton, Pennsylvania, and lived in Panama, the Balboa Canal Zone. At 17, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for 5 years. George was an aircraft mechanic with the 9th Organization Maintenance Squadron, Strategic Air Command, at Mountain Home AFB in Idaho.
George held many important jobs throughout his work career, ending with Siemens, from which he retired in 2000. He resided between Newport News, Virginia, and Titusville, Florida, for the last 40 years of his life. He loved living on the “Space Coast” – Titusville – in Florida, and loved watching the rockets take off.
George loved all things related to airplanes and old motorcycles; he was a mechanic for everything and could fix anything. He loved mud racing in his younger years. George was goofy and loved to joke around with people as well as talking to anyone; he loved driving on the back roads and seeing the area. He was stubborn in his ways, and towards the end of his life, he loved cutting the grass.
His journey on earth may have ended, but his legacy continues through the strength he demonstrated, the lives he touched, and the cherished memories held by those who knew him.
Preceded in death by his parents, Virginia (Roberts) Lawrence, stepfather, Gervace Clair Lawrence, daughter, Tracy Lynn Kintner, and stepdaughter, Diana Rosales Skaar. He is survived by his wife, Hilda G. Kintner; four daughters, Jeanne M. Kintner and child, Michelle Kintner and children, Karen Kintner Courtaway (Matthew) and children, and stepdaughter Lourdes Rosales and children; sons, Kenny N. Kintner, Kevin C. Kintner and Kristoffer M. Kintner and children, stepsons Gilbert Rosales (Xiomara) and children, and Jaime Rosales (Tammy) and children; and the children of Diana Rosales Skaar; two sisters, Patricia G Moore (Dan) and children and Jane L. Scottmonck and children; and numerous great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Boulevard, Newport News, Virginia.
