George Fay Amory Sr. (91) 5/12/1934 – 1/16/2026

George Fay Amory Sr., age 91, of Smithfield, passed away on January 16th, 2026. George was born on May 12th, 1934, in Newport News, VA. He was a longtime Hampton resident, then moved to Smithfield in 1985. He became well known in the area through his business, Amory Auto Parts, located in Surry, VA. The auto parts store remained open from 1987 to 1997, when he then relocated the store and opened Carquest Auto Parts in Toano, VA, in late 1997. He continued to work at Carquest as a delivery driver until early 2020, when he retired.

In his free time, you could find him working on his antique cars. He was a long-time member of the Colonial Ford Model A Club, where he attended many parades, tours, and out-of-state trips. One trip, including George and his wife driving their 1930 Model A Roadster from Smithfield, VA, to Canada.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Bessie Amory, brother Robert, sisters Ruby, Jessie, and Jackie, cousins, and many friends.

George leaves behind his beloved wife of 70 years, Barbara Amory; two children, George F. Amory Jr. (Vickie) and Sandra A. Hill (Todd); Grandchildren, Jennifer Hudik (Chris), Lauren Waltrip (Khoury), Brittany Hill (Chase Gaines), Alex Amory (Lindsay); and Great Grandchildren, Keith and Leland Hudik, Weston, Jase and Willow Waltrip, Aubrey Gaines, and Oliver.

A service will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 12 pm at Orcutt Baptist Church in Newport News, VA.
