Edwin “Ed” Francis Enos

Edwin “Ed” Francis Enos, 64, of Gloucester, Virginia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. Born in Norfolk, Virginia, he was the son of Frederick William Enos, Sr., and Gloria Daffer Enos. Ed was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose kindness and good humor touched everyone who knew him.

Ed retired from Dominion Energy, where he built a long and respected career through hard work and dedication. He lived life with laughter, love, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys – a good day on the water, a quiet morning in the woods, and time shared with family and friends. His sense of humor could brighten any moment, and his easygoing nature drew people close. Whether he was fishing, boating, or swapping stories that made everyone smile, Ed reminded us to slow down, enjoy the ride, and cherish the blessings around us. Though he has cast his final line, his spirit will forever ripple through the waters and hearts he touched.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen Enos, his cherished daughter, Ashley Hughes, and her husband, Chris; and his adored granddaughter, McKinley Reagan, who brought endless light into his life. Ed is also lovingly remembered by his siblings, Frederick Enos, Jr. (Lorraine), Terri Cross (Donnie), and Linda Richie (Kent), his stepmother Jane Enos, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A service celebrating Ed’s life will be held at Menchville Baptist Church, 248 Menchville Road, Newport News, VA 23602, on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Visitation for family and friends will be at 11:00 AM, with the service following at 12:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation or to a charity of your choice in Ed’s honor.

Well done my good and faithful servant.

I had the pleasure of working with “Big Ed” in the shipyard for many years. Ed was not only a great coworker but a true friend—always willing to lend a hand whenever you needed it. I’ll never forget when he helped move my son, Joseph, from Richmond to Virginia Beach.

When Ed and Fred Shearin came to visit me in Palm Bay, Florida, we spent over two hours at lunch filled with laughter and great memories.

My brother and friend, you will be deeply missed. My prayers are with Karen, Ashley, and their families during this difficult time. I will be making a donation in Ed’s honor to my Baptist Church here in Floyd, Virginia.

I was very saddened to hear of the passing of Ed. Just a great guy. Though it’s been quite some time since I last spoke with Ed, I will always remember him- his raspy voice, the funny stories he used to tell, and most of all his kindness. My condolences to the family.
