Edna Chriscoe Tillman died peacefully on January 31, 2025, at the age of 84. She was the 8th of 13 children born to Clyde Lewis Chriscoe and Ometa Cagle Chriscoe in Moore County, North Carolina. Raised in Seagrove, North Carolina, she moved to Virginia at a young age, settling in Hampton. She worked at the Kitchen Center for many years and was a member of the Jehovahās Witness for much of her life. She loved cooking, gardening, and most of all, her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 24 years, George Tillman Jr., and her siblings, Maurice Chriscoe, Graham Chriscoe, Colvin Chriscoe, Bernice Chriscoe, Gilbert Chriscoe, Clyde Chriscoe Jr., Herbert Chriscoe, Juanita Luther, and Velma Grant. Survivors include her daughters, Julie Back and Amy Owens (Shawn); grandchildren, Lauren Back, Evan Owens, and Garrett Owens; brother, Bradley Chriscoe of Seagrove, NC; and sisters, Marie Chriscoe of Asheboro, NC, and Judy Rice of Greensboro, NC.
We would like to send special thanks to Mennowood Retirement Community, her home for the last few years. Thank you for providing a safe and fun environment for her. She especially loved the friends that she made and her time spent in the gardens.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 2-4 pm at Peninsula Funeral Home, Newport News.
In lieu of flowers, just love each other and spread kindness often.

I will miss Ms Edna the most and hearing her stories of growing up and of her family. It was a pleasure to meet her and join in with Bingo on a Saturday afternoon! She shared her beautiful spirit with all of us, we are thankful to have known her. Blessings and prayers to her family and friends. š
