Dr. Daniel M. Kluger passed away November 20, 2025, at the age of 57, leaving behind a life marked with compassion for others, a strong commitment to Judaism and learning, and love of family.
Dan was an Infectious Disease physician on the Peninsula for twenty five years, first in private practice, and then with Riverside Medical Group. He trained at Baylor College of Medicine, New York University, Bellevue Hospital, and University of Wisconsin—Madison.
Dan had many passions and interests. He was a beekeeper, and for over 20 years he enjoyed the challenges and successes of this hobby. He tended his bees with care and pride, in hives he built himself. Woodworking, bread making, beer brewing, gardening, traveling and tinkering with electronics all brought him joy. For years, Dan has been a regular at Rodef Sholom Temple’s morning minyan.
Most of all, Dan loved his family. His work often kept him busy, especially with the many extra weekend shifts he accepted, yet he still made sure to find time for his wife Beth, and their children, Sam and Pearl. He was proud of what his children are doing and who they have grown to be. Family time was his greatest pleasure. The extended Kluger family Thanksgivings were a highlight Dan always looked forward to. He embraced Beth’s family as his own.
Dan was born and grew up in Rochester, New York. His parents, Lois Jean (Brownstein) Kluger and his father, Jacob N. Kluger, and beloved nephew, Aryeh Kluger, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Beth and their children, Sam and Pearl. He is also survived by his three brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Josie, Leo and Karin, and Avram and Dana, and by many nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.
Dan was a patient, kind, gentle, informed, and completely humble man. He was an organ donor, and he would encourage you to be one, too. The funeral will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. Rodef Sholom Temple, 401 City Center Blvd., Newport News, Virginia followed by gravesite burial at the Jewish Cemetery of the Virginia Peninsula, 1817 Kecoughtan Road, Hampton. A meal of consolation will immediately follow at the family home in Williamsburg. Donations may be made in Dan’s memory to the Rodef Sholom Temple Endowment Fund or to the Southern Poverty Law Center. May his memory be for a blessing.

Dan was a great guy. Jane and I always enjoyed spending time with him and Beth at Goldstein events. We are thinking of all of you during this difficult time. May his memory be a blessing.

Dr Kluger was my doctor for more than 20 years, and without a doubt, the very best doctor I have ever had. He gave me hope when my case seemed hopeless and helped guide me through on of the toughest times of my life. As a Baptist pastor we always had positive discussions, encouraging each other in our shared faith beliefs. Be at peace my friend, as you bask in the radiance of Our God’s awesome love. Can’t wait to see you when I cross over. Save a jar of some of that new heavenly honey for me my dear physician friend!
I am saddened to hear of his passing. He was a most exceptional physician and healer. I will miss his upbeat demeanor and his positive attitude toward caring for all. I could always count on him. He will be remembered fondly.
