Clare Holland Lander Wertheimer passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, while surrounded by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Edgar B. “Tim” Wertheimer III. They met in college and fell madly in love with one another.
She taught for Newport News Public Schools and the U. S. Army for several years. When she retired from teaching, she worked for Gulliver’s Travels before becoming an owner and then bought Warwick Travel.
She and Tim spent their retirement years traveling all over the world.
She is survived by her son Edgar B. “Timmy” Wertheimer IV and his wife Kimberly Johnson and grandsons Jacob and Christopher, and son James Lander Wertheimer and his wife Marie Patricia Buswinka and granddaughter Kathryn and grandson William. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org). Per her wishes, there will be no funeral service.
