Charles Richard “Ricky” Hix, 62, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, in Riverside Hospital. He was a native of Newport News.
When he was younger, Ricky was active in the Boys and Girls Club. He loved sports, including baseball and tennis, and was a “die-hard” Miami Dolphins fan. Ricky loved to eat, and one of his favorite things was Dr. Pepper. He loved to tell corny jokes and laughed harder than anyone else while telling them.
Family was important to him, especially his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He would always ask about them whenever he visited with his siblings.
Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Arlene Hix, sister Jeanette Harris, brother Larry Hix, and nephew David L. Jenkins. He is survived by his sisters Vicky Adams of Gloucester and Sharon Robinson of Smithfield; nieces Ashley Harris, Gidget Jenkins, and Bobbie Jenkins; Heather Adams and Ian Adams; Kenny Thompson and Jessica Tisby; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Though Ricky is no longer with us, his legacy of love for his family and kindness will remain in our hearts forever. He passed at peace, knowing his family’s love for him and grateful for his life experiences.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made in Ricky’s name to Boys and Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula (https://www.bagclub.com/).
