Carroll P. Harrison

Carroll P. Harrison, known as “Tex,” passed away peacefully in Newport News, VA, at almost 98 years old. Born in Bay City, TX, Tex had seven siblings, all of whom preceded him in death.

He was married to Betty C. Harrison until her passing in 2007. Together, they raised four children: Christine Kufeldt (Mel), Cary Harrison (Yanhua), Elizabeth Garrett (Chris), and Stacey Harrison (Johanna). Tex was grandfather to four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Tex proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Army, followed by another 20 years in civil service. His work with high-tech photography contributed to the research and development of lifesaving equipment still used in military aircraft today.

A passionate builder and flyer of remote-controlled airplanes, Tex was a founding member of the Colonial Virginia Aeromodellers and remained active in the club for over thirty years. His joy in “building, flying, and rebuilding” was matched only by the friendships he formed through the hobby.

Tex will be remembered for his quiet strength, his sharp mind, and his unwavering commitment to family, country, and craft.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 5, 2026, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in his honor to a charity of your choice.

I want to pass on to the Harrison family my sincere condolences on the passing of their father Tex. Tex lived a full, productive and appreciated life and indeed will be remembered as a true friend who always saw the best in people. I worked with Tex for some 15-17 years at the US Army AATD facility at Fort Eustis, Va. and over the years during 33 to 35 years of retirement, we often crossed paths in which we would reminisce. Rest in peace Tex. Ron Bott, Newport News, va.
