Billie Jo McLamb Walke joined the Lord on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. She is reunited with her loving husband, William Harold Walke, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage. She was born on February 5, 1937, in Sampson County, North Carolina. Billie earned her teaching degree from East Carolina University and spent 32 years doing what she loved in Newport News Public Schools. She enjoyed skiing, sailing, golfing, playing bridge, cooking, and going to the beach. Billie was a member of the Hampton Yacht Club, Orcutt Baptist Church, and the Hilton Women’s Club.
Billie is survived by her daughter, Anna Ragan; her son-in-law, David Ragan; and her two grandchildren, Hayden and Casen Ragan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Estel and Katie McLamb, and by her siblings, Estel Wayne McLamb, Sara Baggett, and Helen McLamb.
The service will be held at Orcutt Baptist Church on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. The burial will follow the service at Peninsula Memorial Park. A reception will be announced at the funeral.
