William (Bill) Keatley

William (Bill) Keatley, 78, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. A native of Bozoo, West Virginia, he was born to the late Carl and Myrtle Keatley. He was a resident of Newport News for 58 years.

Mr. Keatley received an Associates of Mechanical Engineering from Bluefield State and a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from West Virginia Tech. He retired from Newport News Shipbuilding as a Senior Engineer after 55 years of service. He was a member of Hilton Christian Church. 

Coach Keatley spent 30+ years coaching baseball, basketball, and softball where he positively affected the lives of many youths throughout the years. He was also involved in many softball and basketball leagues as both a player and coach.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Lloyd Jackson, and Phyllis and Dale Frazier; his brother, Bob Keatley; and daughter-in-law, Sarah Keatley.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia E. Keatley; four sons, Shannon, Chad (Kristen), Derek (Mandi) and Sean (Florence); two brothers, Jim (Janie) and Randy (Vickie); eleven grandchildren, Carter, Cassie, Hayden, Lindsey, Dawson, Brogan, Fairyn, Corben, Afua, Patrick and Sophie; many nieces and nephews; his sister-in-law, Connie Keatley; and his first wife, Sandy Keatley.
