Virginia Grace Suttle

Our beloved Grace departed this life on January 30, 2022, surrounded by her family.

Grace, the youngest of seven children, was born on January 4, 1928, in Parksley, Virginia to William and Blanche Bull.

Grace’s family moved to Newport News where she met her future husband, Raymond H. Suttle.  During her ninety-four years, she was active in many charitable organizations, including The Junior League of Hampton Roads, Woman’s Club of Hilton Village, The Newport News Bar Auxiliary, and volunteered at Riverside Hospital.  For many years, Grace and her daughters owned and operated Barbara’s Boutique where she happily served friends and customers.  She was a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church.

Grace was a devoted, loving, and caring wife, mother, and grandmother.  She is survived by her husband of seventy years, Raymond H. Suttle, her daughters, Barbara Garnett (Lloyd), Donna Herbert (Tom), Pamela Suttle, and her son, Raymond H. Suttle, Jr.  She is also survived by five grandchildren, Andrew Garnett, Thomas Herbert, Scott Herbert, Caroline Suttle, and Harrison Suttle and many nieces and nephews.  She will forever be missed by her family and friends.

Grace was grateful for her loyal caregivers and her family also expresses their deep appreciation.

A private family graveside service is planned. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 372 Hiden Blvd., Newport News, Virginia 23606, or the charity of one’s choice.

Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601.

I was one of Ms.Gracie, Caregivers. I enjoyed taking care of her. She was very loving and kind. Her smile was very contagious. When I did something she didn’t approve of she would say don’t do that. I enjoyed hearing her say that. She didn’t talk much but she knew how to get your attention. I will miss her. God has gained another flower in his garden. God makes no mistake. Ecclesiastes Chapter 3: verse 2

It was Mrs. Gracie’s time. Prayers, love, and strength for the Suttle family.
