Ruby Diane Hedgepeth

Ruby Diane Hedgepeth, 72, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Sentara Careplex in Hampton, VA.  Ruby was born June 20, 1951, in Fayetteville, NC.  She was the daughter of the late Teofilo Delacruz and Hurley Hathcock Delacruz.  Ruby was a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church in Hampton, VA. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Hedgepeth, Sr. of Hampton, VA; one sister, Emma Mae Covar of Fayetteville, NC; three brothers, Dominador Delacruz of Warren, MI, Teofilo Delacruz, Jr. and Pering Delacruz, both of Fayetteville, NC. 

Ruby is survived by her son, James T. Hedgepeth, Jr. (Tony); three sisters, Rosine Dexter of Woodbridge, VA, JoAnn Canell of Garner, NC, and Evelyn Faye Lee of Fayetteville, NC; and several nieces and nephews. 

A visitation at Peninsula Funeral Home will be held Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 a.m.

She was very special to our family and will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter in Newport News, VA.

    Aunt Diane I am so sorry of your passing I am happy that you are not suffering you were one of the sweetest people I know. You always took care of others. I really wish I would of came and visited. I love you, you will be truly missed.
