Robert Boice

Robert (Bob) Edwin Boice died on July 16, 2023. He was born in Highland Park, Michigan, on August 19, 1943.

Bob joined the military shortly after graduating high school. Half of his 20-year career in the Air Force was spent in Europe, where he enjoyed assignments in Germany, Holland, and England. He also served in Vietnam. Bob retired when stationed at Langley Air Force Base and then began another 20-year career in Civil Service working at Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown, and Portsmouth Naval Hospital.

Bob was an avid reader and had a huge collection of books. After arthritis in his hips and back made it impossible for him to swing a golf club, he began walking around the neighborhood to exercise. He liked watching golf tournaments on television. Bob also followed English football and was a Liverpool fan.

He loved hosting his cousins for a week in the Outer Banks each year. A wonderful way to bring the family together with game playing, good food, and lots of laughter. He will be missed by many.

Bob was predeceased by his son, Paul Boice; his parents, Cecil and Beatrice Boice; his brother Larry Boice; and sister Virginia Baker.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Boice, and cousins in Michigan, Georgia, and California.

Many thanks to the wonderful friends who stepped up and helped during his devastating illness. Friends who are like family, thank you, and God bless you all, especially Pamela and Tim.

At Bob’s request, the burial will be private.

Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601.
