Ricky Craig Buchanan, 73, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024, in the comfort of his home. He was a lifelong Newport News resident who retired as a Superintendent for Newport News Waterworks after 14 years. He graduated from Newport News High School and Rhema Bible College in Broken Arrow, OK. Ricky was a member of Denbigh Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jamie Lee and Rufus Hall Buchanan; sisters, Eddie Jane Cline and Rufusine Buchanan; brothers, Edward Dwight Buchanan, Ronald Lee Buchanan, Lowell Allen Buchanan, and James Daniel Thacker; and daughter, Jennifer Christine Buchanan.

Ricky is survived by his son, Michael Craig Buchanan; three grandchildren, Logan Keith Buchanan, Michael Joseph Buchanan, and Dashton Joseph Hagan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at Peninsula Funeral Home on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at noon. The burial will take place following the service at Peninsula Memorial Park.
