Richard Morris Bryant

Richard M. Bryant, 68, passed away in Newport News on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. He worked at Newport News Shipbuilding in Department X15, from which he retired after 41 years.  Richard was a 1973 graduate of Warwick High School (Go Farmers!).  He was an avid sports fan, especially baseball, which he excelled in playing throughout his young life, Little League, American Legion, and into his college years.  He loved being outdoors, hunting quail, bass fishing, and he had a love of photography. 

Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Delaney Bryant, and his brother-in-law, Frank Bobbitt.  He is survived by his son, Mitchell (Kasey Linn); four grandchildren, Cage, Keaira, Amelya, and Abel; and sister, Sandy Bobbitt. 

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 19, 2024, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News.  Interment will be held at J.K. Bryant Family Cemetery in Chatham, Virginia, at a later date.

Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home.

    My condolences to the family. Richard and I worked in the fab shop together. We always talked about sports especially baseball. We always had a good time at shut down. He will be missed…RIP
