Nellie Virginia Doyle Cooper

Nellie Virginia Doyle Cooper, 95, went home to be with the Lord on May 13, 2022. A native of St. Paul, VA, she had resided in Newport News. Nellie had retired as a bookkeeper at Bank of Warwick and had also retired from the Riverside Regional Medical Center. Her most cherished roles were that of a devoted loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a longtime golden member of First Baptist Church. She loved her church and watching worship services on Sunday.

Nellie was predeceased by her loving husband Edwin L. Cooper of 49 years; parents Bessie and Charlie Doyle; siblings Jay, Scott, Billie Doyle, Margaret McReynolds, Bea Gullett, and Helen Higgins; grandson; and great-granddaughters. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters Kathy Cooper and Pam Childress (Bruce) of Newport News; son Lee Cooper (Lynn) of Yorktown; seven grandchildren Timothy and Brian Turbeville, Matthew and Angela Childress, Thomas, Nicholas and Sarah Cooper; many loving great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Peninsula Memorial Park, with Rev. Randy Shepley officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or American Stroke Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
