Mollie Mary Marsh Theophilos

On March 31, 2024, Mollie Mary Marsh Theophilos fell asleep, peacefully, surrounded by her family and loved ones.  Born December 30, 1938, in Alexandria, Egypt, Mollie was the daughter of John Benedict March (United Kingdom) and Kyriakoula Coumides (Cyprus). The oldest of two daughters, Mollie immigrated to the United States at the age of seven.  She and her sister, Peggy (Mundy) first called Pennsylvania home, but not long after, they relocated to Charlottesville, Virginia. The family were long-standing members of the Greek Orthodox Community in Charlottesville. In 1960, Mollie met the love of her life, George Nick Theophilos of Newport News, Virginia, at a church dance in Richmond, Virginia. Two years later they were wed; a devoted marriage that would last for 33 years. Together, Mollie and George lovingly raised two daughters, Paula Detweiler (Kurt) and Stephanie Theophilos Peri (Frank). She was also the proud YiaYia of five grandchildren:  Giovanna Peri, Dominic Peri, Christian Detweiler, Ethan Detweiler, and Dean Peri. Mollie loved her grandchildren dearly, always spoke of them with a bright smile on her face and would light up when they walked into the room.

Mollie was a faithful parishioner of Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Newport News, Virginia, and was a member of the Daughters of Penelope. She enjoyed crafting, especially crocheting, and would fall in love with any animal she saw.

Over the last 12 years, Mollie was blessed to have the care and love of her family by her side to the very end.

Anyone who has known Mollie knows a kind, loving spirit who always greeted you with a warm hug and smile. She will be missed dearly, and her life will be celebrated by all who have called her sister, mom, YiaYia, Thea, and friend.
