Mehmet N. “Sam” Siam

Mehmet N. “Sam” Siam, 92, traded this world for his eternal life on October 5, 2023. Sam was a Korean Conflict (US Army) veteran and a member of Liberty Live Church in Hampton, Virginia. He was born on December 17, 1930, in Worcester, Massachusetts, to Ahmed and Clementine Siam, who predeceased him. Sam was also predeceased by his wife of 71 years, Phyllis Anne Siam; three brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by one brother, Abraham Siam (Phyllis); and one sister, Susan Cardin. Also left to cherish Sam’s memory is his son, Chris (Arleen); daughter, Elizabeth “Betty” Burge (Wayne); grandsons, Chris Siam II (Lisa), Dwight Burge, Clinton Burge, Stephen Burge, Ric Burge; granddaughter, Tina Marshall; great-granddaughters, Mariah and Alyssia Burge; great-grandsons, Cameron Marshall (Sarah) and Kohen Deal; along with many other nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Hampton VA Hospital: Dr. Das, RN Penny, LPN Michelle of the Prime One Clinic, and RN Rob of 4-East inpatient care. Also deserving praise are Hospice nurse Pat Jarvis, Hospice Aide Lynn, and social worker Hannah Green at Walter Reed Convalescent Center, Gloucester, VA.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023, at Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News, VA 23606.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy through contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN, or another charity of your choice.
