Donald R. Pierce

Donald R. Pierce, 90, of Williamsburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 4th. He was a loving husband, Dad, Grandpa, and Great-Grandpa who brought so much joy and laughter to our hearts. Donald will always be remembered for his love of life and, most of all, his love of his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.

Donald was an avid runner, competing in two marathons and many other races. He also enjoyed going to the gym, biking, and working in the yard.

He was a native of Windsor, North Carolina, before moving to Newport News, Virginia, where he spent most of his life.

Donald retired from Sturgis Newport Business Forms after 33 years of service until the closing of the company and continued working at Food Lion until retirement. He had been a Bethany United Methodist Church member in Hampton before joining Main Street United Methodist Church in Boonville, Indiana.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas H Pierce and Nancy I. Pierce; three sisters; and five brothers.

Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Ruby J Pierce; daughter, Debra Pierce of Newport News; Son, David R Pierce; wife, Carolyn Pierce of Yorktown; daughter, Lisa P Bishop; and Floyd Bishop III of Williamsburg. Grandchildren: Floyd Bishop IV and wife Amanda Bishop of Newburgh, Indiana, David Ray Pierce Jr of Yorktown, and Heather Pierce of New Kent. Great-Grandchildren: Liam Bishop, Landon Bishop, Sawyer Bishop, of Newburgh, Indiana, and Carter Payne of New Kent.

Donald’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the Hospice of Virginia Nurses.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, 3:00 p.m. at Peninsula Memorial Park.
