Curtis Arthur Durham, Jr.

Curtis Arthur Durham, Jr., 84, of Yorktown, passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2021. He was born in Oakland, Tennessee, grew up in Chicago, Illinois and had been a resident of Yorktown, Virginia since 1979. Curtis served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring after a 26-year career as a MSGT. He served in Vietnam and his last post was Langley AFB. Following his military career, he worked as a contractor for Saudi Arabia until 2005.

He was baptized in the Methodist Church and was a member of Ernest W. Armstrong Military Lodge No. 145 F. & A.M. (Prince Hall Affiliated) in Berlin, Germany. In his spare time, Curtis loved fishing of all types.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia Durham and Curtis Durham, and his brother Anthony Durham. He is survived by his son, David Durham; daughter-in-law Marina Durham; granddaughter Maria Durham; sister, Doris Alexander and her daughter, Lisa Alexander; and good friend and fellow military serviceman, Jerry Whitlock.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society Tidewater, 477 Viking Dr. Ste. 130, Virginia Beach, VA 23452 (www.donate3.cancer.org/).
