Catherine Lee Asbell
Catherine Lee Asbell, 83, of Gloucester, VA, passed away on October 16, 2023. She was born to the late Grady and Nova Leicester on January 26, 1940, in Windsor, NC.
Catherine was preceded in death by her sister, Opie, and her parents.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Travis Asbell; her two sons and their wives, Thomas and Heidi Asbell and David and Christy Asbell; and three grandchildren, Olivia, Nathaniel, and Gabriel.
Catherine was a woman grounded in her Christian faith, and for many years, she and Travis served as dedicated leaders at Deer Park Baptist Church. She found joy in every aspect of life, cherishing even the smallest things. Above all, she treasured spending time with her family.
A visitation will be held at Peninsula Funeral Home on Friday, October 20, 2023, from 5-7:00 p.m. The Celebration of Life will be held at Peninsula Funeral Home in Newport News, VA, on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., with a graveside service at Edgewood Cemetery in Windsor, NC, on Monday, October 23, 2023, at 2:00 p.m.

Travis I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT We are praying for You and family. Catherine will be missed by all of those who know her. My last memory of Her was a couple Sundays ago when she taught S.S. She was a very good teacher that was able to include the class members. God Bless You & The Family. Jimmy Diggs.
So sorry to hear about the loss of Catherine. I was blessed to get to know her through WMU at GPBC. She loved to make cupcakes for the children and youth dinners. She was a blessing. I will miss her at church and WMU. So sorry for your loss.
