Carol Sue Strait
Carol Sue Strait,72, of Newport News, VA, passed away peacefully at her home on October 18, 2023. She was a long-time employee of Bush Gardens and Water Country. Carol loved cooking, crocheting, and hearing about her grandchildren. Carol was the daughter of the late Theodore Linwood Dobbins and Martha Sue Faulker Stallings.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Danny Linwood Dobbins.
Carol is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Bill Strait; daughters Dewanda (Tim) Hall of Elberton, GA, Mary Lynn Shepherd of Hartwell, and Michelle (Billy) Culbertson of Winterville, GA; sisters Brenda Roenne of Newport News, VA, and Ann Lytton of Pulaski, VA. She had eight grandchildren, Brandon Hall, Brittley (Jake) Haralason, Haley (Kyle) Riser, Dalton (Miranda) Shepherd, Andrew Chandler, Nicole (Addison) Hastings, Kaylee Culbertson, and Brantley Hall, all from Georgia; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

It was a privilege to be the Mother-in Law of Carol. She entered my son’s life at just the right moment. We shall all miss her. She never gave up, always had a smile. Rest in peace now, Carol.
Carol was a dear friend and you two were a blessing to me. My deepest sympathy for you and the family, Bill!
We are sure gonna miss Carol. She was a great person. We’re sad to see her go but the time we knew her she made us smile a lot . She was always happy in life.
My sympathies to her family. I met her years ago at Water Country. She was working at Hubba. Always had a smile and would stop by my chair to say hi. I have missed her the last couple of years. Rest well my friend.
