Carol Lee Dodge passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022.  She was a resident of Newport News and retired from Newport News Shipbuilding, Maintenance Department after 21 years of service.

Carol was a warm and loving person, she loved her family and doing things for them, including cooking for the holiday family dinners.  She enjoyed helping her husband in their garden and she loved raising flowers.  Carol not only loved her family, but she also loved her four-legged family, Oreo, and Mitzi.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Margaret Whitmer, brothers James Whitmer and Johnny Whitmer, and sister Joyce Stepp.  Carol is survived by her spouse, Floyd Dodge; three sons, Harry Wright, Jr., James Wright, and Johnny Jackson, Jr.; ten grandchildren, Justin Wright, Jenna Roby, Jessica Wright, Logan Jackson, Matthew Newman, Daniel Jackson, Jonathan McAdams, Hannah McAdams, Sarah McAdams, and Aaron McAdams; two sisters, Bobbie Pitman, and Linda Spruill; one brother Albion Whitmer; and her dogs Oreo and Mitzi.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Peninsula Memorial Park.
