Barbara Huguley

Barbara Dale Huguley, born on July 16th, 1958, and a longtime resident of Newport News, VA, peacefully passed away on February 1st, 2024. She was 65 years old. Barbara dedicated her professional life to serving her country, working as a Security Escort for the Department of Defense, where her commitment and diligence earned her the respect of colleagues and friends alike.

Born to Robert Brizendine and Louise C. Taylor, Barbara grew up in a loving and supportive family. She is preceded in death by her father, Robert, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of warmth and kindness. Barbara is survived by her devoted husband, James Ray Huguley Jr.; their children, Carol Huguley and Seth Huguley and Seth’s wife Maggie; her Mother, Carol Taylor, as well as her in-laws, James Ray Huguley Sr. and Patricia Huguley; and her love for her grandson, Drake Conway, who brought immense joy to her life.

Barbara’s memory will also be carried on by her siblings, sisters Roberta Greenslade and Joanna Murphy, brother Robert Brizendine, her In-laws Danny Huguley and wife Denise, and countless other family and friends. Together, she shared a bond that transcends time and provides solace in moments of grief.

A visitation in Barbara’s honor will be held at Peninsula Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 14th, from 5:00-7:00 pm, allowing friends and family to gather, share memories, and find comfort in each other’s presence. A graveside service will follow on Thursday, February 15th, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Albert G. Horton Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, a cause close to Barbara’s heart. By contributing to this organization, we can honor her memory and support ongoing efforts to combat cancer, a disease that affects countless lives.

Barbara Dale Huguley will be remembered for her unwavering love, dedication to family, and commitment to service. May she rest in peace, and may her spirit continue inspiring those fortunate enough to know her.

    Praying for everyone in their time of grieving. May God lift wrap you in His arms and provide you with comfort. Heaven has gained a beautiful angel and just know that you have raised a beautiful family and are so loved.
