William Walke

William Harold Walke went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 30, 2023. He was born in Danville, Virginia on July 27, 1930. At a young age, he moved to Newport News and graduated from Newport News High School. While Ding was in the army, he found his love for cold weather when he was stationed in Alaska. As a young man, he became a real estate agent. While working as a real estate agent, he found the love of his life, Billie McLamb Walke at Buckroe Beach. After the Ash Wednesday storm, Ding saved the day and found Billie a new place to live. Billie then realized he was the one and they were married on August 19, 1963. Ding decided to branch off on his own and became a successful home builder. He was a member of Orcutt Baptist Church and Hampton Yacht Club for many years. Ding loved his family, friends, sailing, skiing, and loved heading to Wintergreen.  After his retirement, he visited Danny’s Deli and the Hampton Yacht Club daily with the boys.

Ding is survived by his loving wife, Billie McLamb Walke; his daughter, Anna Walke Ragan; son-in-law, David Ragan; sister, Miriam Williams; and grandsons, Hayden, and Casen Ragan.

A funeral service will be held at Orcutt Baptist Church on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at 2:00 p.m.  The burial will follow the service at Peninsula Memorial Park. A reception will be held following the burial at Warwick Yacht and Country Club, 400 Maxwell Lane.
