William “Billy” Freeman

It is with great sadness that the family of William R. “Billy” Freeman, 70, announces his passing on January 23, 2021. He was a native of Hampton and a resident of Gloucester, Virginia for 25 years. Billy was self-employed as a crane operator, William R. Freeman Excavating, Inc., retiring after 40 years. He was of the Baptist faith.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Randolph and June Freeman, and his brother, Richard Freeman. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Freeman; daughter, Sarah F. Welsh; son, Brian Staik; four grandchildren, Lorely, Carly, Nathaniel, and Mason; and best friends, Chris Pickin and Frank Patrick.

A private service was held by the family.

Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601.
