Shawn David Freeman

Shawn David Freeman, 63, of Newport News, Virginia died on Saturday, October 8, 2022. He was born in Jamestown, New York on June 25, 1959 to Senta and David Freeman. He is survived by his wife Tammi, three daughters, Elizabeth, Ashley, and Laura, step-son Cory, and siblings Deidre, Heather, Sharon, Jim, and Treg. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Carter, Autumn, Anden, and Aubrey and preceded in death by his grandson Myles.

Shawn was a United States Navy and Coast Guard veteran, serving for 22 years and retiring as a Chief Quartermaster. His career focused on marine electronics and navigation systems, working as an operator, designer, and trainer. Shawn was also an artist, with a love and great talent for playing the harmonica and engraving wood. Most importantly, Shawn was a warm, steady, kind presence to everyone in his life, from his church to his work, and deeply loving to his friends and family. He will be profoundly missed.

    I send you my heartfelt condolences and I share your sadness. Shawn was such a special man! Whenever I saw him, he had a smile on his face even through the challenging times in his life. Shawn had a big heart and was a very kind and caring person. He was a gentle soul and will be missed by many people whose life he touched. 🙏❤️
