Roger D. Hayes, (R.D.), 75, passed away on September 7, 2022.  He was born in Boone, NC and had been a resident of Zuni for over 32 years.  After graduating from Hampton High School, he went to work at Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company.  He was a Master Shipbuilder with over 46 years of service.  R.D. was a honorary member of the Central Hill Hunt Club of Windsor, VA.

Preceding him in death is his father, Roger G. Hayes and mother, Juanita C. Hayes.  He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Verna B. Hayes, son, Roger D. Hayes (Carrie) of Zuni, VA and his special grandson, Bryce M. Hayes, and 2 sisters.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 11, 3-4:30 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home.  A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 12 at 1:00 p.m. at Peninsula Memorial Park.
