Patricia Ann Mitchell Pittman

The “awesome” wife and mother, Patricia Ann Mitchell Pittman, known to her friends as Pam, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021.  She was born on June 22, 1939, in Yankton, South Dakota and graduated from East High School in Denver, Colorado in 1957.  She married and followed her husband, Harold to Hampton, Virginia, where she lived and loved.  As a bookkeeper by trade, she was a valuable asset to the family business, AeroFast, Inc.

Pam was a Cub Scout Den Mother and supporter of Boy Scout Troop 159.  She was a member of North Hampton Lions Club and held the office of secretary for many years.

Pam could sew, knit, crochet and needlepoint.  She knitted a beautiful pink blanket for her great-granddaughter who is due in February and presented it to her just three weeks ago before she passed away.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris Wesley and Lucy May Mitchell, and her son-in-law, Glen Whitaker.  She is survived by her best friend and husband, Harold; three children, son Brian and wife Rachel, daughter, Margie Whitaker and son, George and wife Marty; three grandchildren, Marcus and wife Laura, Michael and wife Keri, and Megan; and one great-grandchild, Arthur.

The family will hold a memorial service in the spring.

This wonderful lady will be so missed by all of us.

Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601.

My condolences to Harold and family. I am so sad to learn of my Cousin “Pam’s” passing. She welcomed me into the family when I found my birth family with open arms, memoirs and photos. She was always so open and helpful in telling me stories about our Grandmother, Grace and my Birth Mother, Ruth. RIP, dear Cousin.

I am saddened to hear of Pam’s death. We communicated in the past about our common Gordon family history. I was thinking of her today and found out this sad news. Much sympathy to the family. Feel free to contact me about family history if you wish.
