Myrtle Rue Williams
Myrtle Rue Williams, 95, of Newport News, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021, at her home surrounded by all of her family. She was a native of Johnston County, North Carolina, and had been a resident of Newport News for over 70 years. Myrtle was a member of Northside Christian Church.
Myrtle was a loving wife, mother and Mema and was devoted to her family. She is the last surviving member of her 13 siblings. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Dave E. Williams; daughters, Sherry Price (Kenneth) and Beverly Cox (Glen); grandchildren, Scott More (Courtney), Jil Tayler (Calvin), Nichol Crumpler (John), Jeff Cox (Michelle), and Justin Moore (Becky); nephew, Tim Britt; 13 great-grandchildren; and an expecting great-greatgrandchild.
The family appreciates the loving care provided by Riverside Hospice. They also appreciate the delicate and respectful handling by the staff of Peninsula Funeral Home in the transfer of Myrtle into their care.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 31, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, Virginia 23601. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor David Willis, will be held on Wednesday, September 1 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The CDC highly recommends masks for inside gatherings. Entombment will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park Mausoleum.
